I received a pair of the Adela slip on shoes from Nurse Mates and was immediately impressed by the more casual look of these slip-on shoes. The full grain leather material feels high quality and elevates these shoes when compared to the more hard, clog design popular among nurses seeking waterproof slip on shoes for work.
I got these shoes in all white, which feels the most classic for this shoe style. They have several other color options and designs on their website if you’re looking to venture out a bit.
Design
Full Grain Leather
As I mentioned, one of the first things that stood out to me when testing out these shoes was the full grain leather material. Leather is a popular choice among nurses because it’s easy to clean, durable, and is pretty water resistant. Cleaning for these shoes simply involves wiping them down with a damp cloth.
At $89.95, I think this is a pretty good value for a pair of full grain leather work shoes.
Slip On Design
For those seeking out a simple slip on design, these are about as easy as they get. There is stretchy side goring on both sides that helps to create a flexible fit for many.
All that said, these shoes did not conform to my foot/ankle well and were a bit too loose. I have narrow feet and ankles, so when I would take steps, the heel of my foot would slip in and out of the back of the shoe. This is a pretty typical phenomenon when trying slip-on shoes for me, so take this problem with a grain of salt if you have a normal-width foot and ankle and normally do not have issues with slip on loafer designs.

There is a chance that I may need to size down (I am a true women’s size 8, but might have benefitted from a 7 ½ in this case).
I’d suggest pairing these shoes with a more no-show sock such as the Trino Sprinters from Allbirds.
Slip Resistant Bottom
The shoes feature a rubber outsole with traction that will help to keep you from slipping on slick or wet surfaces.
Insole
The insoles on these shoes are super cushioned and feel amazing on the feet. They are not removable, however, so keep this in mind if you are trying to also pair these shoes with orthotics.
Sizing
Like all Nurse Mates footwear, you can get these shoes in wide sizing and half sizes! To me, these shoes feel like they run a little bit bigger, so I’d consider sizing a half size down.
Lining
I really liked the interior lining on these shoes. It almost feels like a suede interior and is super soft and moisture-wicking.
Style
I love the preppy look of these slip on shoes, especially when going with the classic all white design. There is a tiny heart design on the back of the shoes, which is a cute addition, especially for nurses.

The footbed on these slip on shoes are removable, which could be convenient for any nurses who want to wear their own orthotics.
These shoes are a bit more expensive than the Nurse Mates Adela shoes but may be a good alternative if you’re looking for removable insoles.
