Meet the 2019 Future Care Leaders Recipient

Briana Corkill received the TPN Future Care Leader Scholarship in 2019 to study at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. She was chosen from 80 competitive scholarship applicants who took the time to apply for Test Prep Nerds’ first-ever scholarship.

Scholarship recipient, Briana Corkill, graduated from Grand Canyon University, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an Emphasis in Pre-Medicine. When asked in her application what had inspired her to get into the healthcare field, she described her memories of her uncle’s cancer treatment and ultimate survival.

“As the relative of a cancer survivor, I spent a significant amount of time in hospitals and around health care providers. It was this experience that inspired me toward a career as a physician and showed me the type of provider I wish to become.”

The TPN Future Care Leader Scholarship is one element of our commitment to expanding opportunities and resources for students from all backgrounds. We believe in providing options for students to find helpful resources and affordable preparation for all admissions-related tests and applications. Founder, Kristine Thorndyke, says of this year’s scholarship, “We were really impressed by this year’s candidate pool, especially considering this was our first year providing such a scholarship. It’s amazing to see such passion and thoughtfulness of those entering the medical field and we expect great things from Briana as she embarks medical school. We plan on continuing this scholarship and hope to expand into more fields over the next couple of years.”
