Changing your MCAT Testing Center or Test Date

Assuming there is a seat available on the date and location that works for you, there should not be a problem in making these changes for your MCAT reschedule. That said, if you are planning on changing the date as well as the location, you’re better off making these changes all at once versus separately. Each time you make a change to your MCAT exam, you will be charged for a rescheduling fee. But if you make these changes together, you are only charged the fee once.

Keep in mind when making these changes that you must make them before the registration deadline for the Silver Zone. Some other caveats to note are that you can’t change your test date before the registration has actually opened for that date/location. Rescheduling your exam within the Bronze Zone will cost $50.

You may make these changes through the MCAT Scheduling and Registration System.

Cancelling your MCAT Exam

Depending on your situation, you can receive a partial or no refund on your cancelled MCAT. Assuming there was not some sort of emergency (death of a family member or military duty), then here are the details about cancelling your MCAT:

  • Cancel before the Gold Zone Registration Deadline ends and you will receive a partial refund of $135 and $50 for FAP
  • Cancel after the Gold Zone Registration Deadline ends and you receive no refund

If, on the other hand, you are going through a crisis such as severe illness, death of an immediate family member, or called for military duty, then you may receive a $135 refund regardless of when you are cancelling the MCAT. If you received the FAP, you will receive a $50 refund.

If you need to cancel the MCAT due to an emergency, you must contact the MCAT Resource Center by phone (202) 828-0690 or email mcat@aamc.org

You will be required to send documents for proof of military deployment, funeral program or death certificate, or medical documentation of a prolonged hospital stay.
